Yacht identification and help for future project
« on: October 11, 2016, 07:49:00 pm »

Hello
I own an hull from an old pond yacht, and plan to restore it when my current projects will let me some time...
The lengh is about 41 inch.
Here are some pictures :

Do you know what could be the origin of this boat ? Date ? brand, or home made ? kind of rig ?
The deck doesn't show a lot of things for the rig. The 2 triangles on the front could be swivels for 2 kinds of gib sail :

My goal would be to restore this boat, with an old style rig. Perhaps with a radio inside but without any irreversible modification, and only wood, cotton and brass seen from outside. No hight performance needed, and would only sail with moderate wind.
The swivels let me thinking it could have a bermudian rig, but i would like an older rig, and found  HERE an hull not so far from mine, with a beautiful rig :

Not sure this schematic is for a model yacht, as the sails are very big for a so small keel...

As my keel must be removed for the restoration, i can improve it like this (quick and dirty drawing...) :

With a small and harmonious reduction of the rig from the drawing, it could be something possible !?!?

If you have any idea, information or suggestion, i would be very happy !
Thanks in advance...  :-))

It may be worth contacting the Vintage Model Yacht Group, for further information and advice.

The interior shots appear to show what I believe to be a 'bread & butter' build, so would say more likely home built not shop bought.

Hello, nice hull.  The sail plan you have found looks a good match.  If you go ahead with this configuration just make sure the top sail is removeable for strong winds.  Otherwise looks good, the length suggests a 1 metre class with allowance for bumpers.
I agree nothing modern on deck.
Removing and sorting out the keel will enable a length of 5 / 6 mm studding to be drilled in and clamp the keel together.
good luck,
Roy
