Where to sail in Surrey
« on: March 05, 2017, 10:11:17 pm »

Hi, as the title suggests I'm looking for clubs around my area (Farnham Surrey) I'm a relative newbie to RC boating (although not modelling) at the tender age of 58  and will soon be ready to launch my freshly built Kit so looking forward to meeting like minded model boat enthusiasts.
Cheers in advance, Dale. PS I don't mind travelling for a good pond.

I live in Surrey myself although I don't tend to sail there.

Local to you Elstead Moat used to be a popular venue and I was recently told that there is a club in Guildford who sail at Stoke Park on Sunday mornings and who welcome visitors. I am going to check that out when the weather improves a bit.

Hi Colin,
thanks for the reply, I will look into those as neither are far away...I did pop down to Chichester canal basin today and that looks a good venue.

I live in Guildford and can vouch for the pond at stoke park. It's specifically built for model boating. I'm a newbie as well, and am planning on heading there in the late Spring / early Summer with my son for a maiden voyage.

This next Sunday (19th March) the Guildford Model Engineering Society will have one of their open public weekends.
