MARX motors collectibles or junk ?
« on: February 28, 2017, 12:15:26 pm »

Hello there

I got a big box of model-boat bits from a user of my Danish forum, and it contained several MARX motors, nearly nobody is using these in DK, so I would just check here.

Are these collectibles or junk or something in between ?

BTW they all work.

Regards
Carsten

the outboard is probably a collectors piece, though probably not worth much. The others are still suitable for either a model boat, or in the case of the multi-ratio gearbox, good for school or university projects.

The Richard motors go for about 10 -15 quid and the Milliperms, probably around 10.  They were very much like the motors used by Meccano in the 70s.

Thanks for the input  :-))

I think I'll bring them to the spring auction at my local model boat club

All the motors in the picture are now regarded as collectible, especially the Pile (Gearbox) motors and the outboard. What makes them extra special is the original boxes that you have with them.

For what you would be likely to get for them at the clubs auction, you would be better advertising them on the UK site..e.bay or the DK equivalent. Or, keeping them in case you come across a 1960's model boat without a motor.
