Spectrum DX6e
« on: December 25, 2016, 06:19:02 pm »

Hi All

Hope you don't mind me asking some beginner questions.

I have a Spectrum DX6e transmitter for use with a model yacht.

I have changed it to centre mode 2/4 to use the throttle as the winch control, with the throttle lever centralised. I am struggling to set the failsafe as when the transmitter is switched on an alarm beeps for high throttle. Is there a way to switch this off so the failsafe can be set as the throttle centralised (sails slack rather than wound right in).

Also, the winch returns to the same position as the throttle lever is centralised. How do you get it to stop partly rotated when the throttle lever is centralised?

Many thanks of any help.

Regards,

Nick

Why have you used a centralised throttle?  Mine is ratchet from bottom (sails in 15 degree off center) to top (full throttle sails out). Can't help with the failsafe as I cannot get it set either!

Nick,

If you don't have a user manual you can get it here www.horizonhobby.com/pdf/SPM6650-Manual-EN.pdf

Looks like failsafe detail is page 13 and warnings setting is on page 19

Good luck

As Klunk has stated you will need to change to a ratchet to get full sails in and out, some have tried holding the throttle/sail winch stick down using an elastic band but not very successfully.youhave to hold the
Stick in position at all times to adjust sail for tacking etc.

If you have got to keep your left stick self centering you could use the right stick up/down
On a Rachet, that would mean both rudder and sails on one stick which is a conversion we have
Done for a few disabled club members.just an alternative.

I use the same set up as Klunk
and have no problems with any
of my yachts.
Just looked in my manual and it would seem
that the air receivers are failsafe adjustable
but it states that not all receivers have
failsafe. I would imagine that means surface
and marine. As I use orange rx's failsafe is not
an option for me, but not having lost signal any
time on the last 5 years with the DX6i DSMX I
haven't missed it.
A lot of the Planet users have the odd signal glitch
but the yachts tend to just go round in circles slowly
moving to leeward and ending up in a recoverable
position

  Hi Ned,

I use Orange receivers with my Futaba FASST transmitters. On this set up, if you first switch off the failsafe on the Tx, you can invoke failsafe on the Orange RX, it works on all channels not just the Futaba "throttle" channel.

With my set, you simply turn on the rx then place the tx sticks , switches etc to where you want them to be in failsafe mode then press and hold the micro button on the rx for a second or two, when the LED flashes to confirm set.  May not be the same on Spektrum version of the rx of course
