There are several areas to eat in the Messe most serve fast food and snacks. There is a restaurant but in 12 years I've never been there. I've always had breakfast in my accommodation. The exhibition opens at 9 and I'm not sure when the eateries open. Unless you want a late breakfast, I'd opt for your hotel.

Like Dougal says eat at the hotel if its on offer as the shows so busy you wouldn't want to lose time eating when you could be viewing the exhibits if you've never been before you won't be disapointed.

We drive from Calais or Dunkirk. It's no worse than motorway driving in the UK (except for driving on the right of course). Going that way involves going around Antwerp which can be very busy , so you need to know where you're going lane wise. Other than that it's fine. Takes about 4hrs with no delays.

Just found this out - driving in Germany you need a Emission Control Sticker ,there is a hefty fine if caught without one, this law came out last year  . One is needed in Dortmund .
Here is the link:

I must admit my daughter sorted it ,there is a file size for the V5 if its too big it will not accept it, there is also a cost of 15euros. Watch what you are doing as some sites charge up to 31euros.
