What do you use for heavy boats? I'm looking at folding fishing carts like the Trakker Galaxy

A chap that attended the Wicksteed show last year had a trolley mounted on bicycle wheels. It had a superb ride that absorbed bumps and wbbles better than smaller wheels. Many boats will ride these out, but some models are that bit more fragile and don't like wibbling especially if quite old with brittle glues/ building materials. I recall it was home made, so if you can get some wheels and do a bit of light engineering you could make a trolley with an easier ride to your personal specification:O)

Good replies but I'm still erring on the side of folding carts as most boats will fill a boot/trunk. So I want one that will go behind a front seat.

I use the same as cos, £30, i dont use the nylon bag, i fitted a ply floor and large boats slide into the truck with transmitter and batteries etc all carried together, empty it weighs about 15lbs, and folds to fit behind the passenger seat, (the models are in the boot) looked at fishing trolleys/barrows etc, very expensive and not much better than the truck

Just a thought, maybe a folding / collapsible wheelchair could be adapted or even a baby buggy or pram.

I would often see baby buggies, in a sorry state, down at the tip/recycle centre. They could provide wheels, and if more pram like the chassis too.

Skierdive, Looked at wheel chairs and baby buggies, the wheel chair with the canvas back removed would work, keep the upright handles. A baby buggy is more integrated and most are difficult to alter, the canvas is usually one piece and part of the chassis.

tigertiger, if you just use the wheels, the effort involved as well as cost to make a chassis and framework is not worth the time, much better spent building your models and spend a little on a truck

I have one of the original Silver Cross push chairs.  Hard to find these days.
Remove 'chair' parts and add a 'drop in' horizontal platform.
Surprising how much it can carry, with room on the tray underneath for TX bag and camping chair.

My 1:12th Tamar sat happily on a converted golf trolley that I got from the local recycling centre.

I bought that estate car because the trolley/boat fitted perfectly.

I use a slightly modified shopping trolley. £10 at the local discount store. It carries my Ben Ain, 48" and 27 lbs, quite easily and folds flat.

That trolley is dedicated to the Tamar, but in reality it is an old golf trolley with a cradle fastened to it.  Design the cradle to take whatever boats you want to move.

I too used a golf trolley, simply fabricate a frame with two web straps which undersling the hull, so it will adapt to snugly fit any shape hull you want. then the frame clips to the gold trolley with 2 smaller web straps so easily removeable, and you can use the frame as a boat stand too, so very universal. used it for 5 yrs now and not a problem, and the golf trolley folds up and light to carry and hand up in the garage.
