Armour, 6 x 6 Mack tractor
« on: March 18, 2017, 07:06:19 am »

Am trying to find a 1/32 kit of this WWII Mack six wheel drive Gun tractor.

All efforts to date have been unsuccessful.

The restored version in the photo is UK located, with the British equivalent being the AEC Matador.

The Matador is available but can't find the Mack???

There were no Matador (heavy) Gun Tractors used in Australia.

Klunk,

Thank you for the link, better than I could find, it is close, but says none are available for sale.

If my memory serves me right the Mack tractor is a 10 tonner but no reason one could not modify it, with photos etc to work from.

Thanks again.

Hiya,

I had a look around and found that ADV/Azimut do one. Military Modelling did an article on it some years back, so there is a bit of reference on it.

Re Matadors in Australian service, according to this site Australia had a gigantic 7 of them!

Good luck with your search for large lorry lovliness.

Good luck with your search for large lorry loveliness.

Sadly none made it to Australia whereas records indicate, 85 Mack gun tractors were supplied. to Australia during WWII.
Still going strong in mid 1960's when Heavy Anti-Aircraft, was rerolled as Light Anti-Aircraft, thence to field, 105mm.
They are a rare beast and 'special' being heavy Gun tractor. Yanks used them to tow the 155mm gun.

That is a good reference source.

The 'NO' model could be made to fit the bill.

Now to find one????
