It'll buff out with a bit of work...
« on: March 24, 2017, 09:13:05 am »

This photo has been generating interest on a page I follow. The story is she was working off the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) in 2001. The captain had turned in for the night and the chief mate was watch officer. The ship hit an unmanned production platform and the captain was thrown from his cabin directly on to the deck of the platform unconscious.

Doing the crew roster it was found he was missing and before he was found the chief mate went below to the engine room workshop and hung himself :((

When the  line Andrea Doria was rammed by the SS Stockholm something similar happened.  A 14 year old  Mexican girl called Linda Morgan was thrown from her cabin aboard the Andrea Doria to the bow of the Stockholm.  She survived with only a broken arm.  Often referred to as the "Miracle Girl" because of landing in the badly twisted wreckage of the Stockholm's bow.
