Ahh, Wheeler Dealers , the Mike & Ed show (AND Paul Brackley), I've often checked their 'rebuilds' on the DVLA website , not too many lasting long . . .
Mk 2 Escorts are my interest ,still having a kitcar I built in the mid '80's sourcing parts takes up most of my free time , I was yelling at the TV when Ed 'renovated' a MK1 escort ,some of the stuff he was refitting was clapped out (Paul must have been on holiday)
I find Car SOS to be more believable, Fuzz Townshend snaps bolts /studs & nuts regularly , which is what happens in real life . . . a quick squirt of WD40 is not always the answer Ed .
Both shows have pantomime in them , the 'deal' at the beginning & the 'sale' at the end in Wheelers , & Tim Shaw's antics in SOS with the 'discount' stunt's etc . . .
The American shows are way over the top , Wayne Carrini only deals with top 1% people , ASTRONOMICAL prices on this show (and it's all for tax dodges)

yes you can 'rebuild a car' in 7 day's BUT the logistics of sourcing parts / panels takes months. . .
This speed fascination's spilled over into the marine world with 'we build ship's in 48 day's ' from the far east shipyards , absolute nonsense , you can ASSEMBLE a ship in that time from modular constructed units , the building of which takes many months . . .
