well I now have a working model of my design of plank clamp, it is designed to be 3d printed. it works on a ratchet principle with a type of rack on each part, these lock into each other and a sleeve slides over the ends stopping them unlocking. there is a relief in the slot in the upper leg, that the lower leg passes through, this allows the two racks to separate.
