North Wind 36 yacht
« on: April 12, 2017, 11:37:38 am »

Hi  - I m new to the forum and new to model yacht building having just completed building a north Wind 36 kit. She sails well but I have just a couple of observations/questions that other members may be able to help me with please. Firstly with anything other than a light breeze or sailing head to wind, the sail servo seems to struggle to winch in the sails. The boat is currently fitted with 'standard servos' whatever they may be. Do others have experience of this and what can I do to overcome this limitation? Secondly, the mainsail is a bit baggy, compared to the jib even though I have tightened at every point possible - again how can I overcome this?

My last question relates to spare parts, I have a crack in the mast heel fitting and would ideally like to replace it , does anyone in the forum have an idea where I can get parts, I tried googling the kit manufacturer ABC Hobby but the trail died out with no obvious link to spares for this model?

make sure that the mast is not lying backover, it should be vertical or slightly forward, that reduces the baggyness.nemesis

A slight rake aft makes a yacht sail
to its optimum.
If the mainsail is baggy, the kicking strap
should help straighten the rig.
If the sail is made with too much
belly then a new sail is the only answer.
