Racing Sparrow RG65 mainsail
« on: April 20, 2017, 11:14:13 am »

This is my first attempt at posting on the model boat mayhem forum - I apologise if it doesn't work correctly.

I've just started building a Racing Sparrow RG65 using the ebook and downloaded RG65 plans. Looking at the mainsail the top is attached to the mast by the horizontal arm of an inverted L.  The vertical arm of the L appears to be in a tube attached to the mast. I don't know what materials have been used or how the mainsail support is attached to the mast. I've looked at all the photos of this yacht I can find but am no wiser. I am using an aluminium mast and rip-stop nylon for the sails. Can anyone help? (I've tried to attach the details of the top of the mainsail)

Also, can anyone explain the three diagonal lines on the sail running from the mast to the top rear corner of the sail.

The tube on the mast to hold the sail
I fixed by superglue then bound with
strong cotton soaked in superglue
after binding.
The lines are the edges of sail patches
fixed over each other to stiffen and
strengthen the top corner.
You should also have smaller ones at
the foot luff and leach attachment points.

Good luck with the build. The Sparrow 65
is a great little sailer.
