Hi everyone

A bit of an update with not too much more to go! The rigging is coming along nicely with some fittings being finally fitted which includes a water pump (available from Shapeways by Mark Hawkins of 3D Boats) and some davit detail being added. Another boom added to the bridge wing supports- no idea what it's for but we can see it on the pictures! And finally, the ladder which sits on the funnel platform has been attached permamantly.

As previously mentioned in my last post the final details are being added as we speak. A lot of swearing at the aerial spreaders- these are the latest product by Mark Hawkins (3D Boats) of Shapeways with 0.2mm holes to push your chosen rigging material through!
A visit to Haydock on Saturday to the Orion Models stand found some 1/48 scale stag horn tie down points for the ships boats davits.
Iím currently painting some figures for the model- does anyone know what colour Royal Navy ratings boiler suits were in the 1920s?

Hi Nick.  I continue to follow your lovely build of HMS Adamant   :-))

You might be interested to know that a colleague at Black Park MBC is currently scratch building the HMS Adamant submarine tender of 1944.  He served on her during her later years.  The ship was finally broken up in September 1970.  A highly unusual layout with four twin 4.5 inch turrets almost at the ends, and funnels set well aft.
She also had 16 two pounders in quad mounts, 8 20mm singles and 8 0.5 inch AA in quads.  She had accommodation and workshops for nine submarines.
She carried in store 117  21 inch torpedo's

Itís amazing how some crew adds a sense of scale to a model. These are Mountfleet Models 1/48 scale Navy figures which Iíve painted up in RN colours hopefully recreating the 1920s style uniform.
Enjoy

Hi Bob

Thatís brilliant- glad Adamant II is getting built, a much bigger vessel obviously- Iím guessing heís building it in 1/96?

Not sure Nick.  If he brings it to our Regatta on Sunday I will get some more info, and photos.
Still a lot to do on her, ie planking; stanchions; secondary armaments and other detail.

What struck me was the ships name, and I thought of you.

I know what you mean! We were going to have some fun with the figures when we first came up with the idea of building Adamant- A figure of Adam Ant and a figure of Adam Adamant weíre going to appear but we thought better of it! {-)

Look forward to some pictures if he brings it :-))

Wow, she looks fantastic on the water Nick and that third photo, being in shadow, is evocative of times gone by. (or should that be in silhouette)
Thanks for the update  :-))

Ray.

Sheís a joy to sail too which makes photographing her more easier. The last picture were from our recent evening sail and I was experimenting with different settings to see what I could accomplish.
Glad you like her too. :-))
