French Fishing Boat Julieth4
« on: September 25, 2018, 12:20:15 pm »

Hi All
Building my first strip plank boat !!!
Side on looks the same as the Eileen and Hellen Fishing Boats, but with a lot more beam(same length ).
As it has a raised area forward of the wheelhouse and a larger hatch, it will have better access into the hull.
Ordered a Raboesch 60mm 3 blade prop, HPI Rock Crawler 55 Turn motor( only running on 40% throttle on 2S Lipo battery).
This is the same setup as in my two Hellen boats.
Also ordered from Hobbyking a Hobbywing Quicrun 60Amp ESC( these have links for battery setup and NO BRAKE).
Straight forward and reverse( no stopping on changing direction).

Hi All
Using Ikea wooden blind for planking, better than balsa, cheaper, stronger and steams well for bending.

Hi All
Finished the dingy and bulwarks.
Also the hatch, skylights and companion way.
A bit of paint with matt 131 green and matt37 for the bottom with a few touches of red and yellow.
Matt vanish on top of the hatch.
Pick up a 35mm(540) brush rock crawler motor 60 turn, a bit slower rpm than the 55 turn.
Big 60mm 3 blade brass prop  ordered.

First coat of Matt 37 and found a few spots more to fill.

Hi All
After her first dip, I have installed the deck and filled around the edges.
Next up is planking, this may take a while.
I did receive the prop and gave the hull it's first power run.
50% throttle and still over scale speed.
Good turning circle and handle the small waves like the boat should!!!

Hi All
More planking on the deck, it's taken longer than I thought!!!
Trying to match the deck planking to the wheelhouse.
Maybe a bit over the top for a fishing boat!!!

Hi All
Finished deck planking !!!
The weather for the next is 20 to 30 degrees, so two coats of wood sealer and two or three coats of matt vanish.

Hi Coastie

Things have slowed down for the Christmas/New Year, but back on track next year.

Also I was given a Precedent Perkasa unfinished(I am the fourth owner) from a club member as his heath is not the best at present.

So I have been working on getting in the water.

Still a lot to go on the boat.
