Robbe Koh I Noor
« on: February 10, 2014, 10:22:37 am »

I am about to overhaul a model that I built many years ago, and the owner would like a more scale like sail set.
Anyone done this before ? And would share what they did ?
Anyone have a recommended sail supplier ?
Many thanks in advance for your ideas/recommendations.

For 'scale sails' I'd be inclined to talk to these people -

http://www.nylet.co.uk

They've a very good reputation although I've never used them...

Nothing wrong with the current suit as far as I am concerned triumphjohn, but the owner thinks they look too tall and skinny, and wants a more full scale like set ( especially the main ) I appreciate that it may well upset balance etc etc etc,(one reason for wanting a recommendation for an expert)  but the customer is always paying the bill at the end of the day.
Thank you twister, I have emailed Nylet. . . . who do list this model for replacement sails.

have you contacted the local model yachting club , where somebody might have a different suit you could try ? perhaps a fuller b rig would give a more pleasing to the eye look without loosing too much sail power

I've never seen another Jon, let alone one locally. . . . Hence posting on here.
Doesn't seem like anyone else has one either :((

The finished refurb has been done with the aid of another boom from a different Robbe kit ( identical but longer) purchased at Westbourne Model Centre. A new suit of sails were purchased from Nylet, perfectly made in a panelled design to the owners design ( he is a full size sailor) a winged keel bulb was added ( again from another Robbe boat).
The result is a much better sailer, in fact it has transformed the model into a much nicer handling boat in most wind conditions.
I appreciate a post is nothing without a picture. . . . I will try to remedy the situation.

Well the Koh I Noor has been sailed with her new sails, great improvement !
Problem is, the owner wants to rid himself of her to buy a dragonflite 95 !
Anyone with any ideas as to her worth, located in Bath.

Rob, posting photos is easy even I  can do it. First open photo in paint, resize here. About a quarter of the screen will do. Then when posting click on Attachments and other options. Click on browse a panel will appear click on pictures, find the photo required, double click done.
