My Antje II
« on: July 18, 2017, 08:27:19 pm »

I bought this model on eBay intending it to be my first RC to share with my grandchildren.
Unfortunately it was an old kit and I realised some bits were missing and also that the accessory kits are no longer available.

Confidence knocked a bit but undeterred I decided to be content with a static model.

And so here it is.

I did buy some accessories from model outlets. Some bits Ive had to improvise.

The exhaust pipe for example is made from a the outer casing of a Parker pen.  The top half is actually the ink cartridge.

The wheel house lights are made from clear plastic tub, painted on the inside green and red, and capped off with a drawing pin.

The capstans are cut from the dolly pegs in my wife's washing basket and painted silver.

Any other improvisations, I'd love to hear about.  Ive realised since joining the forum that there are some first class engineers out there.

Please pardon my clumsiness when it comes to the rigging :-/

She looks like a first class boat Keith  :-)) Very tidily built and well painted. If asked, just say the crew were called away for a cuppa whilst sorting the lines out  ok2 I like your respurcefulness, I hope your Grandchildren like it and enjoy having a sail if and when they are old enough.

I don't think you have anything to apologise for Keith.

it looks a mighty fine model indeed, and very nice if you would go the next step and motorise it and take the wee one down to the lake to sail the boat his grand dad made for him.

I think that I am right in saying that this is the same hull as the original Graupner Pollux tug. The Mk11 Pollux is different.

Lovely little boat.

I'm happy with a static for the time being Jim but Ive done nothing to prevent it being powered up at some point later, maybe when I have a little more know how.

You know more than me Tug but from what Ive looked at, a few boats of this design and size do seem to have similar hulls so I'm sure you will be right  :-))
