Ardupilot in a bait boat
« on: February 23, 2019, 06:01:04 pm »

has anyone installed an Ardupilot system in their bait boat? How easy was it and did it work effectively? The other option I’ve got is fitting a basic gps tracker in it so I can’t drop the bait in a precise area when fishing at distance. Ideally a gps tracker that works with google maps so you can see the satellite image.

I may be missing the point completely - but dropping bait by GPS location doesn't mean there are fish present...

Would is make sense to tow something like the Deeper Smart Fishfinder with your bait boat

Remembered I had this experiment from a while back.

GPS track plotted onto map - you can see where the boat goes overland!!

Location accuracy of GPS approx 5m

Lol! I have a fish finder and whilst they are good, it will show you where the fish are but not necessarily where they are feeding. If there is a specific spot that they feed on then it’s good to know what the cords are so that you are on the money every time
