Tornado speed control

Hi, whilst looking through a box for some Rc bits I came across a Tornado50A marine speed control, unfortunately can't find the instruction sheet, know how to wire it up but was wondering if it can be used with either a 6 or 12 volt lead acid battery and would it be suitable used on a 540 or similar sized motor. Thanks
