My main hobby is flying RC planes and you might find my latest one interesting. This is a Wot 4 Extreme, the largest of a range of models based on the Wot 4 by Chris Foss. This is normally powered by a petrol engine but I have fitted mine with a Wren 50i Turbo prop. The model has a wing span of 84 inches and weighs around 10Kg without fuel. While it has not been flown yet it has been down to the field for some engine runs.

This is turning a 22 x 12 wooden prop at a maximum of 2500 rpm although the top revs on the turbine have been turned down from 195000 to 180000 to allow the gears to bed in.
The turbo prop is a 2 shaft design with a gas turbine driving a free turbine geared down to the propeller drive.
The fuel is paraffin with 5% oil mixture and the model has a 1.5 litre fuel tank which should give 10 minutes flight time.
