HI smyster  simple answer the model is a very old  kit made by Nichimo many years ago. The quality of the injection mouldings leaves a little to be desired compered  with today's injection mouldings. The Trumpeter  Hood makes up ok. I have enclosed some pictures of  a club members  Trumpeter Hood enjoy.

Thanks for that Stan

Lot of money to spend out if the kits are not that good of quality, good to know there ok, excellent pics and just like the amount of detail that's included on a big model, thought they might be easier to build than the deans marine kits, its between the hood and the aircraft carrier model USS Hornet

Thanks Steve

Must agree, Trumpeter is very good quality and worth the expense.  Add the PE and you really have something.  Cheers,  Dennis

HI All I have finally found a glue to stick ABS. Plastic magic from Deluxe seems to ok.  Hope to post some pictures later this week still working on getting the deck sections to fit better.

HI I have stared to work on this model full time now and what a challenge. The original model had the deck held in place with large screws and they did look the best. The challenge is to find a better way of holding the decks down. I have opted for magnets once again when they are all fitted I will post pictures.  Two  pictures one showing a small magnet holding down a  hatch cover and one showing parts of the hull clamped  to bring it back to something like.

Some more pictures showing the magnets that will secure the read deck sections. Further picture showing wood blocks and bracing the wood blocks will have brass m2 bolts fixed in them to hold the middle deck sections. The bracing will stop downward movement when fitting main superstructure.

Stan,
Nice to see the wiring lay out done well, I'm a bit OCD at having the wiring loom looking neat and tidy.

Hope you have sorted out the issue you spoke about?

I forgot to post these last night two shots showing the main gun barrels. I have disposed of the plastic ones supplied in the kit and fitted new barrels from RB Models Poland.

Well what seems like forever getting the decks to fit something like is very nearly complete. I have used magnets timber braces and finally brass road to pull in part of the hull to get a better fit. Now starts the fun of fitting a large amount of brass portholes . Just a few pictures showing final braces fitted into the hull.

Are you just going to stop with the metal guns? or splash out on after market etching kits?

Hi Collin the set for the Missouri is a mind blowing 18 frets so the 2 for the Yamato hopefully will be a breeze.

HI all this kit is driving me up the wall. It needs a lot of T L C some of the brass etch is not a perfect fit either. Just a few pictures showing progress may be finished by the end of the year.
