Any chance of a close up picture of the material, to confirm that it is rip-stop nylon? It may even be Dacron or something else.
The safest thing would be to spread it on an ironing board, and use a wet cloth over it, then a cool iron, and if needed increase the temperature a little each time.
The only other thing I would be cautious of is any other iron on things. The numbers could be iron on, I also have some tape on some edges and bolt rope sleeves that are iron on. After ironing, just remember to let it cool a little before moving anything.
