Hi Richald
I flew R/C model aircraft for over 20 years.. not a brilliant 'pilot' I dont mind telling you all, I found it hard to learn and spent 2 yesrs on training
I didnt get enough 'stick time' ..essential for reasonably quick learning, its like learning to drive, shorter time between lessons is far better than 1 lesson every two weeks, I now from experienc with both
SO i think i may be qualified to give an opinion? .
Eventually allowed to go solo, had 2 terminal crashes in 6 weeks, 1st Precesent Hi - Boy totalled...
2nd A MIck Revees Gangster 52" wingspan...totalled, both pilot error.
dis- orientation in both cases.
I moved on to small home built models, a club favorite was a modifed 'Purple Haze' a 36" foam wing and ply and balsa fuzz model powered by a 20-32 O.S. or similar i.c. engine.
wings were held on with elastic bands. we used the white ones from the model shop, yes we has them in those days, choice of 3 locally !!! within 30-45 mins drive.
more later or i'll get timed out.
