I asked this earlier but did not get a reply.

Is the show different on Friday to over the weekend? Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed Friday I suspect that there may have been more on display & more pool displays Saturday & Sunday. Any thoughts to help next years visit planning?

Grab your 2018 calendars Skipppers ............. the dates for the 2018 International Model Boat Show are Fri/Sat/Sun 9/10/11th November.

With 51 weeks to go, then ponder these questions:

Will King Lear MBC rise to the stiff challenge of trying to take the Club trophy for a third year?
Will YOU finish that model you've been planning to exhibit for years?
Will you buy a Truck and move to the dark side?
Will a bunch of you PLEASE put some steam models on the pool?
Will Martin turn up in a white shirt & tie?
Will James Bond's french collaborator (AKA Chris Scott) return the water he stole?
Will someone take pity on the commentator and offer to get him a cuppa?

These and other deeply imponderable questions need to be addressed over the dark and cold winter months.

Any suggestions for extending the show to embrace other types of modelling?

I understand that footfall was slightly up on last year which is encouraging but it was noticeable that some clubs and traders which were present in previous years did not attend this year.

Still an excellent show though and the pool programme remains a really big plus. I will be reporting favourably in Model Boats and look forward to next year.

Hi Colin - I will be frank and say that one of the best things that Meridian can do to help the show is to reduce the cost of the trade stands a bit!!!!

We only have a 3m x 2.5m stand but the cost to us, a small specialist company, is quite onerous.  Whilst we thoroughly enjoy the show, and meet a lot of friends and new customers, the cost of attending is never recouped through any sales.  We are lucky in that we live relatively local and so do not have accommodation costs but I know, for other traders, these costs have to be added on to the cost of the stand and, sometimes, the figures just cannot add up.  Not only were there fewer club stands this year (3 I can think of off the top of my head) but there were gaps in the trade stands too and where there used to be trade there are now club tables.  The show needs the trade there to bring folk in as well as the clubs.  I was particularly disturbed to see Deans Marine 'out on a limb' with their stand..... A last minute re-arrangement should have taken place to bring him into the fold and present a more cohesive presence.  We need a good tool supplier there too!!! Not the chap at Blackpool - wrong sorts of tools in my view.  We need the likes of Proops or Squires back.

Reduce the trade stand costs - by about half really - and then you will get more traders attending.  This will then fill more space and with the clubs that regularly attend you wont need more 'variety' as there will not be space enough left!!!  Blackpool Show and Haydock have the stand costs just right in my view.

Is it my impression or is there more space available at the Blackpool Show than at Warwick??????

Paul Chilcott built this stunning floating replica of the 'Voyager of the Seas' in under 12 months. The hull was carved from a single block of blue foam. The detail on this cruise ship is remarkable and even features a climbing wall, wave rider and outside cinema just as the full size vessel. Commentary provided by Steve Dean.

I went for my two yearly visit with the aim of looking at Truck Modelling. I have enough boats and thought that I might like to try a truck, which I can use just outside the workshop on my paved area. There was a good demonstration and layout but I could not find anybody to talk to about starting, and there were no traders with models or kits to look at. Looking at a highly detailed display model is all very well, but how do I get there? We need to see the basic stuf and be able to buy or order it.

If you Google for Tamiya trucks you will find several suppliers in the UK. I just bought one from Wonderland Models in Edinburgh who have a good range of trucks and Trailers and who do mail order.

Another thumbs up for Wonderland models. I have bought several trucks and cars from them with very good service. I have seen truck clubs at several shows and they do seem reluctant to approach and talk to interested onlookers.

I have built over 7 Tamiya's and converted several to other vehicles.  Buses, Fire engines and cranes etc. It is an expensive hobby so looking around is essential for the best deal.

I recommend looking at our club on here....
http://www.tamiyatruckin.org.uk/

There are several clubs in the UK, of which I am a member, but the main one  (connected to the Warwick show) is the Tamiya site above.  I was going to the show with one of mine but illness put the scuppers on that.

Hope this helps

went to the show this year . over all it was good .
The top half of the hall looked great but the bottom is not as good. It used to be full of traders down the bottom . Lots of empty spaces .no tool stand . The ground floor canteen has got bigger taking up floor space that once was exhibition.
I like the trucks and thought they were good . I am not knocking any models just the layout of the show down the bottom .

Hi Guys. We had a great time at the Boat show. The Tamiya Truckin Crew felt welcomed by all the boat clubs attending. The crew at the show tried to chat to as many of the visitors/Clubs as possible but we only had a small team at the show for our first visit.

As ken mentioned hop over to the TT forum if you want to ask us any trucking questions and we will help where we can.

Cheers, Ant

Hi Dom ........ can I just say a huge thank you for posting the two videos you've put up on the forum so far. I hope everyone enjoys them and for those that didn't manage to get to the show it should give you all an insight into the pool activities.
Enjoy.

What an incredibly unusual ship! I've never seen a SWATH like that. Can't find any sign of it being a real ship either so some brilliant mind has dreamt it up from scratch. Wouldn't like to bash those bow domes into anything though!
