Can you imagine health and safety up in arms about working practices like these today? Not a safety line/harness to the bloke to be seen, not second man to watch him and as far as I can tell, not even a life preserver of any kind being worn :embarrassed: %%

Nope, its how it used to be in the north sea back in the 70's and 80's. If you go out to the far east or around the african exploration area's they still work like this - its how they undercut professional operators and why so many ships are laid up around europe nowadays (that and the drop in oil prices of course)
