Propshaft Component Order
« on: September 02, 2017, 06:36:22 pm »

I am restoring a small model boat and have bought a replacement propshaft as the old one was running a bit rough and wondered if someone could advise the component order for me (see image).

It has the following:

1 Propshaft Tube
1 Threaded Propshaft (Slightly Shorter Thread One End)
2 Nuts
2 Washers
1 Threaded Propeller
1 Threaded Coupling
1 UJ
1 Grub Screw Coupling

Many thanks in advance.

Shaft through tube
Washer on each end then nut on each end
Fit prop and tighten nut against it.
Take up the slack with the nut on the other end fit coupler.
Tighten nut and coupler together leaving just a minute play in prop shaft
Tighten grub screw.
I would say shorter thread is propeller end.
If not fitting an oiler tube lubricate while assembling

Hi Wally, glad you got a result.  I see you are in Hertfordshire, if you are free on 23rd. 24th. September come along to the Townsend school St. Albans AL3 6DR where we have a Model show with all categories of modelling represented, children love it as well.
We always welcome new members.
kind regards Roy
