Hunt class destroyer
« on: August 31, 2007, 10:45:06 pm »

Hi everyone

Took my Hunt class destroyer out last weekend for it's first voyage after taking three years to build it using the Sirmar semi-kit and I'm very pleased with it's performance. Powered by two Graupner 700BB torque motors it takes off like a scalded cat and is quite manouvreable if speed is kept above crawling pace. Hope you like the pics (I'm assuming I've added them correctly!)

Hello!

Nice ship!
But why did you hoist the Union Jack on the foremast? The ship is underway, not at anchor or in a harbour?

Now, now VWlucas   lets just admire the boat and not be pendantic about it,  after all we get enough rivet counters at the shows.  bigH

Oh, bigH, i'm certainly not a rivet counter*!!! :embarrassed:

Just an (old) seaman, attached to the naval "étiquette".

* Nice expression; I learned something today...

Hi

Thanks fror the kind comments. The Union Jack is incorrectly flown but it's there to help stop waving hands and pointing fingers from wiping out the jackstaff. I might just have the model at Beale Park this saturday if you'd like a closer look.

Which Hunt is it?
I built HMS Dulverton, found out it came from one of the smaller yards and varied in detail from some of the other Hunts.
I used the ships plans, available from The Maritime Museum.
