MINE? or yours....
« on: September 26, 2017, 06:52:16 pm »

When this washes up on your beach (insert funny caption here):

Help keep our beaches clean.

Honey, look what I found on the beach(i'm keeping it).

4 foot diameter fits my dually perfectly.

Those spikey things will keep it from rolling around back there.

I'm taking this to the gun range and pumping a few 50 cal's into it.

I'm selling it on ebay.

"there's another one around here somewhere but I can't quite put my foot on it"

On a serious note: Do they REALLY allow spectators in that close :o

German anti-shipping mine my Granda caught off Fraserburgh 17th February 1948 when he was skipper of the Avondee A826 ( thats him with his hands in his pockets with the black neck scarf second right from the mine )

He saw a LOT of mines during the war having served in minesweepers for the duration !!

Do they still have "safe" mines on the promanade with a warning sign not to touch?  <*<
Used to be a slot to put coins in for the lifeboat.

We have one right next to our club launch site.
I could have taken a photo of it if
I'd known as I have just got in from the lake.
Take one Sunday weather permitting.

The last traditional sea mine I have seen in recent years were at the Harwich maritime museum and Southampton maritime museum. A lot of brave men hunted these killers of the sea.

The land versions are the only items that truly scared me- part of my yearly training was the mine/IED hunting exercise having to feel in the sand for them!
