source for pilot cutter punt?
« on: October 12, 2017, 12:14:31 AM »

Hi there,

Looking for a punt/ship's boat for my pilot cutter build. It's in 1/15 scale, so looking for a ship's boat about 7" long or so. This is for the Cariad. Something like what's shown in the attached picture, but obviously not quite that detailed....Many thanks in advance for any help.

You could always set to with some stiff card and make one. Hammer detailed one in his builds and I did the same on the humber trawler. :-)) Failing that check out kids toys - I kid you not! There are many plastic boats to be had with that kind of shape on the cheap sections, for kids to put in the bath tub with them. A coat of paint and you won't know the difference. A tugboat say, with a superstructure, remove the top bits and keep the hull.

loyalhanna dockyard has some small dinghy hulls, but Don is hit/miss on email/phone replies. And you have to search for the hulls through a cumbersome system....
orion mouldings has a 10" one...

MIDWEST PRODUCTS #950 , very nice model, but it's 10" too.

and of course ebay has the small hulls once and a while....

You can probably build one faster than getting one shipped to you...
