RTR getting serious!
« on: September 04, 2007, 10:06:50 pm »

Fancy an ARTR 1.8 metre Yamato?
http://www.rchobby.co.uk/rc_model_ijn_yamato_rc_battles.html
There is also a Hood.
Be warned, their prices are a lot higher than anyone else, compare what A Model World want for the Graupner ARTRs to what these guys are asking! :o

bear in mind that this vendor has

  • Mary J Ward kit for 450 GBP (quid) and it only costs 300 USD from Victor models.
RTR Torpedo boat 99 GBP I got mine here (China) in a supermarket for 8 GBP
    RTR
Aircraft Carrier 125 GBP I got min here for 17 quid.

this yamamoto could be available for less.

In my opinion the Jamara ARTF boats are crap at much to high prizes.

The huge Bismark and the Carrier are big but they look like toys.

The Graupner RTRs are the best choice.

Problem of all RTRS: you can see that they are not selfbuilded  ;)

I don't think it is the GB price ::)
The MTB boat and carrier are available on ebay for much less. :D

I think it is the vendors price. :-X

Take for example the MTB boat.
In china it cost me 8 quid at the supermarket. Buying direct would get a better price. Even allowing for shipping and customs duty I am not sure how they get to 99 quid.

Speaking of serious it looks like they are using a picture of Lee at Scale Shipyard and I bet he does not know about it. Another unapproved picture. How is this company getting away with this!!!! :police:

Thanks for bringing this to my attention Sean, No I did not know about this, it is one thing to show a photo of someone elses product, but to also show the persons image, that is just wrong and a mite illegal in the USA.
I am sending a e-mail to them to remove it.
I think this guy Richard has been before the magistrate there already for taking photos off of web sites and then offering up for sale the item which he does not have, he takes the money and then pretends not to exist.
I would not do any business with this guy if I were any of you.
There seems to be plenty on the web about this guy with people trying to get their credit card charges refunded after not getting the products purchased, if he was having problems with delivery, then some communications would be in order, I get delayed with deliveriies more often then I like to think about,  :-\  but I do not ignore the customer, and the customers have my phone #

I've sent them an email from my 'throwaway' yahoo id asking if I paid today, how quickly could they despatch a complete (including RC, etc) USS Nimitz model to me. Let's see how they reply.

They've replied!

The response was: 'about 2 weeks at the moment'

The reply seemed to come from somebody called R1chard H0lmes. Note I modified the spelling of his name, to prevent google searches for the correct spelling of his name finding this thread.

The email appeared to originate from 82.23.222.32, which, according to ripe.net appears to be 'NTL Infrastructure - Huddersfield'

My advice to anyone considering a purchase from this company is to give it a very very wide berth!

Check this little lot out:

http://www.complainandshame.co.uk/cands/viewad.asp?id=50000384446100445

Blacklisted here: http://www.rbckits.com/index2.html

Also complained about here and what a story: http://www.rcmf.co.uk/4um/index.php/topic,37313.0.html

And then we have Kmot's posting on Mayhem here: http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=4273.0

If you part with your hard earned money you will likely not hear from them at all, one complaint even said a customer received a used RC model!

The company got booted from its orginal Bradford premise's by bailiff's, sadly they surfaced again and now seem to keep hopping premises with the same old tricks in tow! (Martin, before you moderate this comment, I'am able to substantiate this fact).

Notice there is not contact number on there web site, they say there 'preferred method of contact' is via email, that sets my alarm bells ringing straightaway as they can choose who to respond to!

Good luck Scaleshipyard as I suspect you are in for a long haul, Kmot chased them for ages re photos of his that were "aquired", has send recorded letter's, snail mail and all sorts all to no avail so far

This company is very much a case of "buyer/seller be very very aware" and if possible watermark your photo's :police:
