I am just about to start my second build. I have chosen to builds a Clyde Puffer in the guise of Auld Reekie/Vital Spark ! I have started by obtaining a 1/24 scale GRP Hull from Orion Mouldings. I would be grateful for any input from anyone who has scratch built a puffer from hull up as regards to motor size, shaft length and propsize along with any other valuable information to help me with this project.

Hi Alan,
Welcome to the Mayhem!
Puffers need very little power, a good 385 (Speed400) would probably do the job but most modellers install a 5 pole 540 type motor,
just to get away from the wildlife! ( EG. RE - 540LN - (5 POLE) NOISE ATTENUATED )

Hi Martin .
Would the same motor suffice for a 1/24 Cervia Tug which is my next one on the stocks ? Assume I would need a gearing reduction set up.
cheers B.

This month's Mod Boats had lots on Puffers including a Pottinger plan that looks fab.
