Ive read somewhere that people draw lines on their sails to simulate stitching with a pencil. anyone got any ideas how this is done then sealed??

I have used a pencil on Dacron sail material, to simulate seams. The fabric has a textured surface and the pencil marks well. I just used a ruler as a straight edge and drew parallel lines. There was no need to seal, as graphite is waterproof and had not worn off. I think this could work for cotton, but absolutely smooth materials might need a permanent pen.
