......if only I knew - my son lives in Northampton and could have collected it for me so it could have been rescued and saved from the tip.

Its a shame to know that another one has been lost as there was never too many of these made, but hopefully a keen eyed "passer-by" will have "rescued" it before it got buried in the local land-fill site.

Stay safe - Bob.[/quote]

It was.  Moved away from power boats on to yachts, as many more opportunities to use them. Still have about 30 i/c engines stored away, in all the "racing" sizes

criminal to dump such a boat.
wish i had known i would of come and got it for sure.
fantastic boats. could of made something special from that....
and that one looks like it is a real one. the knock off's didnt have the full lip round the edge and
slightly different where the sides go up.
one of the best boats ever made ...

Has anyone got any pics of the MK1 spirit of the south. its was the very first of the spirts and had the open cockpit design.
i have the enclosed cockpit type that was definitely more popular, but would like to have got myself a open cockpit top as well.
pretty sure both would fit the same boat, if i remember right it made the spirit look more like the apache..

a pic of the open cockpit version would be nice to have, then i can maybe make on similar.

for those wanting to know about the stratos boat etc.
hydrafibre made 2 boats using the same hull. one called hydrafibre stratos and the other called hydrafibre interceptor.
often both these boats were seen running webra 61 for racing.
most with the fly bridge used the size 40 like the  hot at the time Hp gold cup  and silver cup for realy good speeds.
being a bit lighter than a 61 they gave the boats better balance.
there was a interceptor that often ran at black park with a webra 91, it was an animal when he managed to
get it going (not very often fitted with a john stidwell( I think) slide carburettor. very finicky to get it going but nothing
could touch it once he got it running...

Still have 3 Webra 91's in my stash of racing engines awaiting disposal. One of them has a Webra slide carb which was the ultimate, back in the day

yep the webra 91 was the motor to have at the time and the slide carb, but the one I am talking about was the webra slide but modified,
I am sure the bloke  was called stidwell, might be wrong, but all the racers wanted a carb done by him.
webra was the go fast motor until the likes of CMB and PICCO came about over here, but still managed to almost keep up ha ha
reliability of the CMB was far better and just looked so different, the webra seemed a very tall motor back then..
Pretty sure ive still got a an old webra 91 carb in my box, not the slide one the barrel one ha ah
I got my cmb from Greg Sadler, he imported a few bits and pieces from all over the globe.
All the top racers back then had a Webra 91 and then most switched to CMB when renewing.

The days of Webra and HP motors. Happy days. My favourite racer was a Silak with a Webra 61R in it. Close second was a Jaguar with a HP40F.

whoever built that dont have a clue.
look at the propshaft angle, was he inteding to puta 6 inch prop on it  ha ha

and he says its fast, maybe if it fell out of an airplane it would be fast.
nice boat but a bit much considering the whole lot has to be taken apart and rebuilt.

and yes that motor is crap, they were no good when new

Did they make a large Pilot boat as well?  Circa 48 inches long?

No  hydrofibre didnt do the big pilot boat, but i know the boat your talking of. its was a nice boat.

There was real nice pilot boat i think owned by a fella in reading. i saw it twice at black park running old
4 stroke petrol motor, sounded real good.. boat was very heavy and real was well made. about 4ft long and when out the water was very deep.  nice boat...

The arrowshaft and arrobolt were nice. the arrowbolt and arrowshaft was by cambria models and came witha  zip-strut in the kit.
it made it like a sort of outdrive ..
i sold my Arrowbolt and should of kept it. i fancied a go at cars for a while..
silly mistake to have sold the arrowbolt. it went realty well witha enya 61.

if you look on the one advertised that has the zip strut on the transom holding the rudder.
these were pretty good boats back int he 1970's when they came out..

i like the stand on that arrow shaft.

Did much the same, and regretted it. Still have the zip strut casting in the garage somewhere. I used an alternative drive set up on mine.

the zip strut was pretty well made.
sort of forerunner to todays boats having their surface stuff out the back.
there wasa real full size thing on the back of offshore powerboats like the zip strut.

when i got my arrowbolt i was sort of puzzled by it, but it worked good. and i had a weston engine mount
big cradle effort  , again that wa sa bit strange going to that .but again worked ok.

cambria models were pretty good quality and the arrobolt came with anice interior  and nice windscreen.

not as fast as the hydrafibre pipedream or interceptre's etc but realy did go well.
hydrafibre was the boats to beat other than multi's. and back then the mini jag and the jumbo jag and opus 40 were good multi's.

I had ( and still have) a fibre glass Swordman hull made by a guy in the Leicester power boat club. It was an amazing boat. In its time, it had a range of 40 and 61 engines in amd went like stink on all of them.

I still have a new in box Webra 40 and ditto Webra 61F and keep being tempted to get the Swordman going again.

I just picked one up via a friend and wondered who made it. Never been touched just a hull, deck and cabin.
