Loft update
« on: February 11, 2018, 08:58:15 am »

After receiving many more boats before and after christmas.... thanks vic (one donator). I could not open my loft door. Just to note not all the boays donated are mine. Several have been donated to the club to sell! So i spent Saturday afternoon emptying some areas under my work table and put in 2 bedside cabinets i had going spare, this made more room available. Now this loft is 7ft tall sloping apex roof and 10ft to the eaves plus 8ft long. Before christmas there were 12 built boats plus 12 kits hiding over the back. Now there are 12 built kits. 18 boxed kits unmade and 4 boats in fir refurb plus 18 hulls with  plans.  I also have 30 plus transmitters a large box of receivers and crystals, 2 printers, 2 laminaters plus my modelling tools. And all my charging gear.

The good thing about a tidy is i found my rare earth magnets that i lost a year ago. They were attached to a metal light switch at the top of the door. The light switch was the original in the loft and is disconnected.  I never got round to taking it off the wall!

note i also do submarines so use 40 meg gear
also we habe several members still running 27 and 40 meg so i keep spares. on top of that club boats run on 27 megs as well. also i dont believe in throwing away perfectly good radio gear no matter how old. in thd amount of txs i do have, i also own 13 2.4meg txs for my own use in sailing and motorised ie ratchet and sprung loaded.  with now over 80 boats ready to sail by dropping batteries and rxs in i feel justofied in the amount of gear i have. upgrading has been done also within reason.  what i lack is a suitanle amount of space in which to store and build. god firbid the wife finding put how much i do have!

Hi Pete, I agree if it is still working its worth keeping and the 27 Mhtz band is nice and quiet these days.  My choice as to 27 or 40 is how many channels I want to use.  I have a few 3 ch 40 meg sets and crystals that I like and enough rx's to see me out.
Wow, though 80 boats!

Do you move the little cabinets out from under the bench so you can put your leggies under it to sit?

Don't let any member try to take the p*ss out of you Klunk ...I know there must be hundred's of members here would just yean for a building space such that you have :-))

Do you have a set of Loft Pigmies engaged on a nightly basis to tidy up the shelves, the singular bench and the many storage compartments? {-)
