Tug Towing Question
« on: September 10, 2007, 11:04:01 am »

As a newbie to tug towing i was wondering if there was a set time to it?

Running solo i get about 4-5 hours on this new tug, (MMM Oakgarth and Shannon with all their motors etc) mucking around on Saturday with an old barge got about an hour and a half.

Thats running each engine on 12volt 12 amp, without lights, sound etc?

They are set up to run 24 volt so a little worried. Is there much call for 24V?

 :-\

Hi Simon,  Don't be worried mate there will be Plenty of good advice on the day, 12v is OK, you will be in a team of
three. One tug takes a single tow round the course the other two tugs take the other tow round, then when you get back to the docking area all three tugs go round with the third tow and that is your course compleat.
 Hope this helps you.

 Cheers

You wont go far wrong by listening to these guys Simon, we have yet to meet one of the TT guys who wouldnt go out of there way to help you.
Just one warning....IT IS ADDICTIVE...all life will change after a go at 'real' tug towing with the guys.
