Hi Andy,

Just placed an order for a pair of Victors 28mm Jets with intake grill, based on your recommendation😀
Not quite sure what I’m going to fit them to yet!

Charlie

Thanks. Just checked his website, but all jet drives are showing out of stock :((

Having played around with 3d printing and found that the fine detail was lacking in the normal filament based printer I decided to try one of the lower priced resin based ones. So went to Amazon and bought an Anycubic Photon S printer. Arrived yesterday afternoon  on Next day delivery and so I am busy checking it out and doing test printing. It needs a bit of a different approach to setup and is much more messy as it uses a liquid resin needing care with handling. So far I am pleased with the results as the surface finish is so much better. I will need to get a UV lamp for post printing processing to make sure the resin has fully hardened.

A complete set of spares to repair my DF65. An RX, a rudder servo and a sail servo. Not sure what I blew up trying to bind to another TX but smoke told me all not well.
Moral of the story, inexperience usually costs but why me?

I have had three rudder servos let
the smoke escape on mine over the
past few years. Seems to be the Achilles
Heel on the DF65.

A common reason for short lifespan on these is incorrectly set stops so the servo is still trying to pull when the line or lines are tight

No problem with the sail winch in three years if weekly sailing all year round.
Winch and rudder ends tops set on DX6i with
rudder on self Centre and stops at 25 degs to
minimise drag.

Bought a few bits and pieces over the last couple of weeks - a small toolbox for taking to the lake along with the boats for batteries and tools. Prop shaft to motor coupling in a size I hadn't got and various solid alignment couplings and a number of servos for my current builds. Oh, and a set of hex head screwdrivers which are much nicer to use than allen keys.

I have a Proboat PBR with the twin jets. It is quite a nippy little thing in standard form.However........................
 It took on water !
The Jets have NO sealing gasket between themselves and the hull. The Impellor shafts had NO grease.
After applying grease inside both Imperllor shafts and some thick grease to seal at the transom all was well and no more take on of water via the jet units.
I have found that splashed up water gathered in the rear well. This has been cured by drilling through the transom and installing two drain tubes, one each side.
I am now considering installing more drain tubes either side of the cockpit.
Water can also find it's way down through rotating gun turret, so I've added a skirt around it and sealed it at the bottom.
Finally, I found it difficult to install a 7.2V NiMH throught the hole provided. The battery has been replace by a Stubby 7.4V 2S Lipo which easily slides in/out as required.
For an RTR model it requires some firkling with this sealing and draining business but once set up OK it is great fun to run and looks quite impressive on the water. You have to be careful with turns at high throttle, it can easily 'spin' out and take on some water !!!

I needed some replacement rods for a bit of a re-build, approx. 2mm dia. I called in to Halfords and brought a pack of 6 wheel spokes, 18 cm long, for 70p. They normally order them as require I was told but had these handy.

Hi All

I bought an out of product Krick kit which has not been started very, very cheap !!!!

The only parts missing is the boat stand bits which I was not going to use in any case.

Secret squirrel project at this point in time.

A couple of months ago my Samsung laptop went to the recycle yard in the sky.
I'm now primarily a MAC user but I have found a thing or two that just is not available for anything but Windows.
Money being tight now I don't work I decided to refresh my knowledge of PC's with the intention of buying a cheap used item
I found this what seemed to be a bargain having compared many specs over several hours

This arrived today and it is spot on with a clean 500gb hard drive and fresh install of wondoze10 pro

Fits an IKEA plate/picture shelf

Now I can use RC Plus for my sound units

I cannot believe my luck - I've only managed to get hold of a genuine Aeropicollla plank bending tool that looks as good as new.  These things in good condition are like hens teeth now.  I'm a very happy lad  :-)

Sunday at Blackpool bought another boat... just what I needed.... I thought it was a very good buy.. Billings Thor ... twin Graupner water jets driven by 700 bb turbo motors, 3 servos, 6ch receiver and 30a speedcontroller.  Tested it all today with 11.1 lipos.... went like a dream. Needs some epoxywork inside and a fresh coat of paint... but a bargain....
Today bought 6ch Fly Sky rc specially for Thor.... am going to have great fun with this ...

Replenished my supply of various grades of silicon carbide finishing sanding roll and bought a better quality junior hacksaw where it's easier to replace the blade. Also bought a longer shaft for a prop shaft that I can cut down and use the coupling that I want to.

Due to stress at work (we have 5 days in and 3 days of where each 5 day stint can range from 45 to 51 hours, but each 'week' is just over or under 40 hours) went to LidL, spent on food and pigged out, mainly 2 apple turnovers and now they sell pretzels, so 2 of them as well, and several tins of 'sweet st' travel sweets (ooohhh they are addictive)  >>:-( <*< :embarrassed:
