Had four new tyres fitted on Friday to wife's car. They were on the advisory last MOT for cracking so got another year out of them (very bad)
Passed MOT today  O0

Just bought new front vented discs and pads for £40.67p delivered from eurocarparts PAT75 discount code . I saw they were badly worn while having the tyres changed but good enough to pass the test. Will swap them when weather improves

Bought this beauty on Friday. As my username suggests it is a RAF boat in particular a ‘tin boat’ used by the RAF Marine Craft Section. Due to the size of these vessels it was decided to name them as opposed to referring to them by their RAF number- so 4002 is Stirling however the name on the model is Sunderland. No big deal as these vessels were virtually identical anyway! It’s 1/20 scale and features working lights, flashing morse Aldis lamps, and radar scanner. Does need some upgrading electrics-wise as the mechanical mixer unit isn’t working properly so an Action version will be purchased in due course.

I’d say 85-90% of the electrics work, still not sure what the 6v switch does however! Everything still turns on with it turned off! So still investigating what it does. Lovely model though, which is of course why I bought her.

Hi Stav

It’s a Martins Models kit which was sold off to Dave Metcalf then MBD.
A fibre glass hull with some Action equipment added later. According to the information given to me it was built in 1995 by a member of the Stevenage club who unfortunately has recently passed away.

I've just bought one of those as well. It has been sat around for a while and like yours will need a full electronics upgrade

Snap! :-)

Well I never, I’ve only ever seen hulls of this model from D Metcalf and later MBD. When I was told it was kit I was surprised as I had never seen or heard of one before. But this now proves that there was, too many parts that look identical!
I’ll have to look through some old copies of Model Boats to see if I can find any reference to the kit.

The Sunderland 4002 was owned by Roland Duffet, a previous chairman of Stevenage Model Boat Club who had been modelling since his teens.. Whilst talking to his family during the disposal of his collection I was shown a cutting of him receiving a medal for a model at a Model Engineering Show when he was 16. He had many models to that standard and had contributed several articles to model boating magazines. There are many books on naval subjects and both biographies and fictional stories on conflicts for the period from WW11 to date that are to be sorted. .I am hoping that these articles and much historical information on SMBC will be found during this process.

I think it refers to the radio frequency used by the vessels. It’s hard to say as all my pictures show a large roundel in this position instead but it is repeated on the flying bridge on what I assume is the radio.

The actual model that I bought (built by Roland Duffet) is truly stunning as I keep finding extra detail each time I look. I’ve got the Aldis lamps working now as I missed a plug hidden in the superstructure which powers them. I intend to do some light repairs primarily the hand rails as some are broken but easily fixed. His figure painting is excellent and their addition adds so much scale to the model.
Whilst I don’t think I met Roland I hope to keep his model alive and running for him. Many thanks to French Dave and Klunk for allowing me to purchase this special model. :-))

Hi Nick
You're probably already aware of it but there is a site with some useful info and pictures of all the RAF boats. Sunderland was 4001 with 4002 being Stirling

Why does it need to be secure? it doesn't ask for any personal information in any way shape or form.
Years ago when I used windows my experience of Norton was that it impacted greatly on the PC performance.
I mainly use Mac now and no additional security than apple provide included
