A 1/64 scale type 21 Frigate needing a refit.

Bob

Hi Bob I see you have bought a
1/64 scale type 21 Frigate well they are a very unstable model as I built HMS AMAZON FI69 so when you built it really watch your top weight as it was just not mine that was unstable but a friend also has HMS AVENGER TYPE 21 IN 1/64  F185 again his was very unstable and have you just bought the hull or the complete deck and bridge as they are very weighty as well as made from GRP we learned our lesson the hard way by not watching top weight  >>:-( <*< so hopefully this info will help you to get a nice model that will sail ok as they are a nice looking ship

As our Shower Room doesn't have a bath I've ordered an inflatable Kids paddling pool so I can ballast and check the levels of a couple of boats I've built.
With the latest spate of weather I'll leave it outside to fill with rain.  I'd normally pop down the local club lake to do this but current restrictions make that a No No.

Just bought a really well built Chlyde kit TBD the Velox and last month a real bargain a HS28 Caldercraft kit tug. Now I just need a clean freshwater lake to run them on, that will be the hardest bit!

I bought a ruler set from Amazon..... can you still get rulers with reversed scale on the other side?

Say Metric top, Imperial bottom, when you flip a ruler over, Metric Bottom, Imperial Top
which allows you to quickly check measurements in both Metric  Imperial...

Where can i get rules like that?

I bought a Hot glue gun from Lidls. I have wanted one for a long time and it was a god price. I just have to avoid scorching my fingers on hot jammy glue  :((

Oh, and my copy of the
MODELARSTWO OKRETOWE".  arrived on Saturday. The plan was not quite as detailed as I had hoped for but it has loads of detail and I have already drawn scale outlines for the turret.

Well worth the money even though my Polish is limited to spotting Okret based words and the like.

That hot glue is really painful if you get it on your skin. I always wear nitrile gloves when using mine.
It doesn't stop the heat but it stops the glue sticking to your skin. As a First Aider I have lost count of the number of people I have seen with solidified glue stuck to their hands. They tend to stick their hand under the tap as you do with any burn, unfortunately that sets the glue solid.

I would have to be convinced that they are better than the small block plane I bought. That is useless, it has to be taken apart after nearly every 'run' to get the shavings out.

These ones do look good I have to say. From where and how much ??

did think of buying a pair of these

arsuxeo-unisex-cycling-under-shorts-bike-shorts-classic-spandex-red-green-bike-wear-stretchy_p6736609.html

I don't think they would remove as much wood as the plane, and maybe the red cushioning would make you look like one of those primates with the red 'bottom'? Brave and in the moment maybe?

I think that £45 for a small plane is  a bit steep for me. I've paid less for a car........

A "tugboat" kit from UGears.  $US 45.  It's a wooden model/puzzle that runs on land, rubber band powered.  Many parts laser cut in plywood to GREAT precision.  The parts snap together with a light press fit tolerance.  No glue, no screws needed.

I am partway through the build and am amazed at the precision in the design at nearly every step.  Damn clever, these Ukranians!

Too soon to tell.  I have most of the gearing  and the driving rubber band gizmo put together.  Updates as I progress.   ok2

Yes,and passed its MoT as well. I drove that for about 18 months. That was about 8 years ago and it's still in use as a 'hack' for driving round a farm up the road.
