It’s not for milling. Just for drilling safely without holding piece with hand or fiddling around with bolts on a single vice. I’ll be milling  on my lathe.

I just use a single vise and a G clamp. It's always worked fine for drilling. I have got some T-bolts but I hardly ever do any heavy enough work to need them.

I wish I had a lathe to mill on, but Hey-Ho.

New shed arrived today. Just have to put it up tomorrow although the weather doesnt look too good for it! Unfortunately, it's not a shed for my modelling gear. It is to get my wife's gardening rubbish out of the spare garage so I can use that!
BTW, it's a 'Power Shed' as named by the company. Not cheap but its far better quality than B&Q etc.

Spotted these in Home Bargains for 99p. lucky as I broke my only remaining set square from school a couple of months ago, don't think they are supposed to last 70 years.  %%

That is the exact set that I use  :-))   I've never needed anything more expensive as they are so accurate

My most expensive purchase this week was a set of these. They are to replace the 43 year old busted up & over door that now needs two of us lift it so I can get into the workshop. I think these will be a godsend. The pic is from their website I shall be putting much better hinges on it, 3 down each side.

£185 for the doors plus the incidentals, £68 for hinges, door bolts, coach screws & bolts, £17.99 for preservative. It'll be worth it I'm sure. It will be a bit weird to be doing full size chippying rather than tiny boat stuff though.

Yep, that's what I meant when I said coach bolts and screws but I wasn't overly clear.

An M10 coach bolt & two 40mm coach screws in each hinge 'strap' and 4 x M6 coach bolts in each pintle. They'll need an angle grinder to get them off by the time I've finished.

Pessimist. Actually we have a very low burglary rate around here. And the dogs would wake the whole parish.

To be honest it is hardly likely to ever be locked. The up and over never was unless we were away for a week.

I choose 'Ronseal Fence Life Plus Shed & Fence Treatment Medium Oak', £17.99 for 9 litres. Maybe not the best there is but I really have had no gripes with Ronseal products in the past. 3 coats initially and enough left to redo it at least 2 or 3 times. It'll see me out I reckon.

As for the knot distribution, that is just the luck of the saw I guess but at least they're in plane view.

I have a set of sturdy GATES, after several years they are getting blacker at the bottom than the rest of it, they have sunk on one side by about 20 mm but overall they have been standing up to the harsh weather, They must be about 10 years old now and we coat them with ronseal decking 'OIL',
they got darker and darker with each coating and only this year did I sand them down and then apply the coats, we do several over several days, the front face is south facing so more coats are applied here using up most if not all of the 2.5 litre tin.

The Oil is better in my view as it is meant to be used in a harder wearing environment - direct sunlight and walked on.  :}

Just ordered one of each
https://www.oceanworkscale.com/product/z-peller-azimuth-thruster-z-drive-propulsion-combo-set-100mm-reinforce-nylon/

Using currency card Revolut $400 delivered was £309
These are normally one week lead time to produce. As you can see by the dates it is over three weeks now.The delay is because I'm being upgraded to FULL metal so I'm looking forwards to these even more. Also shipping is upgraded to Speed post for better security. Unfortunately I'll be on holiday so will be itching to come home  %%

FYI
OceanWorks are no longer publishing lead times or are trying to get away from that. If an item like jet drives are showing no stock it does not mean they are going out of business but they are in production and will appear as available as and when.

So you need to keep checking or send them a message of interest.

Gents, FYI, I went to Axminster tool in Basingstoke today to look at purchasing a Model maker milling machine, the one I was looking at was out of stock, so I asked if I could order one. No problem until the checkout , the cost had increased by 21%.

I did manage to buy the one on display for the post increase.

I can assure you it is not a tea trolley. You could buy a lot of trolleys with this item.
