Quite some time ago I bought a pack of 50 chisel blades from Ebay China. I have now used them all because although they are sharp I believe they skipped the hardening process  >>:-(

So I searched for a quality alternative and came up with OLFA made in Japan. I found Amazon was best at £3.84 for 5 x KB4-F delivered. However I discovered they don't fit other brands of handle so I had to source that too.

I'm very pleased with the quality.

I have now ordered saw blades for it also.

I thought I'd follow this up with the saw blade options

Having inspected the motorhome in storage yesterday a voltage reading of 12.3 on my inverter battery bank tells me one of the four has a cell down. Not unexpected as they have served for 7 yrs and this is the seventh winter where they have sat in freezing conditions supported only be solar.
So I went for the same genre of battery again as they served so well. Despite brand names changing over the years I know that the Hankooks at 28kg each and 130ah with identical dimensions are the same as the original Alphaline units from battery mega UK

Seven years ago they came to £368 for four, now £479.80. I should get some scrap money for the old ones.

Hi Andy not bad for seven years use the rise in costs over the seven years seems fair.

My thoughts too Stan. When I fitted them originally I planned to routinely replace them at 4 yrs but they just kept going.
The MPPT solar regulator has also done well over this time and I have a spare. On a good day I've witnessed up to 22amps charge from my 300 watts of solar when the batteries demand it.
I also have another battery bank the same size just for 12 volt use. Fortunately the ages are staggered and these should be good for some years yet.

12.6V tells me they are better than 60% charged if that’s a resting voltage ( no load or charge after 2 or 3 hours)I live totally off grid and have two , 6V T105 AGM in series with similar solar. You may want to research how to connect up multiple batteries in parallel and where to connect load and charge cables to achieve correct balance.   However you’ve certainly had good use out of them. Do you have a proper battery monitor such as a Victron 702 or the like rather than the useless solar controller info.

The picture is years old Jerry and not relative to their current state.
As for balance the +ve is from battery 1 and the -ve from battery 4

My wife is the battery monitor and in 7 yrs she has not complained that the hair dryer doesn't work   {-)

With a healthy battery bank I have surplus charge in the sunny months. This is transferred to the other battery bank and when that is full it overflows to the engine battery.

If the weather is so bad that I run low I have a 60amp BtoB

Also I have the ability to combine all 8 batteries or change the duty of each bank.
I can also put a false D+ signal to the fridge to make it run from the solar instead of alternator

My wife insists in using her 2kW hair drier every morning for 5 minutes.  We manage with a Victron 350W inverter so I have to flash up the generator. I also pull 2 of her hairs out every night!

 {-)
Thank you Jerry.
It evolved slowly to this current incarnation. The inverter (spannungswandler) is a UPS that I got very cheap from ebay Germany by auction. This is why it has schuko sockets. Unfortunately the charger side of the works failed but it functions fine for what I need 2000watts pure sine 4000 peak.
I have a 250amp fuse inline. I used 25mm welding cable for the batteries.
I also have a smaller version of the same brand for spare.

I built the floor up either side of the island bed by making two very strong but lightweight frames. These also serve to store essential spares like water pump/ inverter/ solar reg etc etc.
On the original design the wheel arch was boxed in pathetically as a trip hazard so building the floor up eliminated that. Rapido copied this idea in later vans.

Went to my local Vino store, yes they are allowed to keep open in this special time.
People were getting off buying 10g and 30g cans of caviar for a ridicules amount of money. I just went for a couple of bottles.
The slivovits has a special place in my heart, it bring so good memories from the time I lived with my grandmother.

Very nice indeed  :-))

I just placed an order with Knupfer in Germany after their holiday. My order was accepted but it remains to be seen how this pans out.

As the "Pink" cricket test in Sydney has restricted public access because of the virus, l have purchased a couple of virtual pink seats to help the McGrath foundation.
The test just won't be the same without that sea of pink in the grounds for 5 days.
I urge anyone who can, to purchase a virtual seat in support of the fabulous breast cancer foundation.
They can't have volunteers at the ground collecting funds this year.
Cheers.

four days ago bought a Bohler table saw  (solid aluminium ) off Ebay, new, still factory sealed old stock and also from Germany a dedicated power supply 12 Volt. they both arrived today , the power supply from Germany won by 10 mins.  The combined price only a few quid more than a rubbish Chinese table saw. Will bolt it down to a baseboard and probably make a rear table extension for the longer cuts .

Just got a Royal Mail notification that my item has been posted from Germany

It will be a while before I know what charges are involved and I’ve not got an invoice for payment from Knupfer yet so I don’t know whether I’m charged VAT at their side

Hi this is an unsuccess post.  I ordered 10 LED lights from a UK seller.  The delivery 3 days ago was late Hols, covid etc, opened it up and it was someone elses order and had come from the Netherlands!  I emailed and they said they would replace the order and I could keep the 6 lights inside (I have only one  fitting for them).

Then I got the automated 'How did we do' emails.  I responded by email and apologies offered and a promise to expedite my order.  More automated emails and then a personal one saying they were unable to fulfil my order and returned the money to my account.

That wasted a month!  So back to square 1!
