Inspired by a post on this forum I realised xmas is coming and a couple of weeks trapped at the family home again so I did my PEBA mooring tug last xmas and have just ordered a "Hertha Jeep" kit (last one in stock) for this years quick and easy holiday build.

Looking forward to doing my own take on it (I've been looking at the boats on the website -some small differences between them).

Now that is one hell of a tool box, bet the original owner made some masterpieces, somehow I don't think he was a modeler though.

How about this one then?!   %)

Thanks Russell, Box came today -quite an impressive pack of parts and not what I expected from Graupner.  Beggars belief how Graupner went to the wall when you see this although it's obviously got an asian influence in the production.  It's a great kit of parts for 120'odd!

....I also ordred a Paula III:  I think if you squint a bit it might look like a thames police launch if the upper works are replaced so I have this on a back-burner.

Rich,

The Graupner kits changed at the end (for the better) but it was to all a bit to late, if you look at the Hertha there were two different types, earlier versions were seperate hull and deck, late ones were all moulded, same as the new Harro Koebke I bought a few weeks ago, KY models must of been the people manufacturing for Graupner?

The Kestral is a vintage style cabin cruiser wooden model boat kit made using the latest CNC machining and self-jigging construction for a fast, accurate build guided by a unique set of construction

videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oEYswMnhN8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5TCDVxQzKk

This listing comes complete with a pre-wired quality motor and matching coupling included in the price.

The ballraced, fan cooled Johnson motor comes ready wired and fitted with the recommended capacitors to simply plug into an MTroniks speed controller with no need to solder anything. This motor performs well on a 2S LiPo or 6 cell NiMh battery, a higher voltage should not be used as it may cause damage.

Please see our other listing for a kit without the motor and coupling so you can fit one of your own.

The third picture shows the parts of the boat simply slotted together, with no glue or fasteners whatsoever, to demonstrate the effectiveness of the self-jigging construction.

Length:                                    25" (635mm)

Beam:                                      8" (203mm)

Recommended Motor:             Pre-wired motor, mounting screws and coupling included.

Recommended Battery:           2S LiPo or 6 cell NiMh

Recommended prop:               40mm diameter 3 blade brass prop.

Recommended rudder servo:  Pre-cut trays are included for both Hitec HS225BB and Etronix ET2015

The kit contains over 100 precision CNC cut plywood parts, all strip-wood and dowels.

Deck planks are routed for a realistic appearance, not just scorched like laser kits.

Pre-drilled mountings are included for various motor options.

CNC routed plastic windows are included for ease of assembly.

Includes a fitted stand with rope handles and protective felt strip.

Includes a wooden ship's wheel, quality nickel plated cleats and clevises and a turned brass ships horn.

Includes a brass rudder and tiller assembly and ready-made servo linkage.

Includes a quality stainless steel and brass prop-shaft with glass cloth to secure it.

Includes a custom made water scoop and outlet with hose for a realistic jet of water when the boat is under way, can also be used to cool the ESC or motor if required (longer hose will be needed).

Other parts will be needed to complete the model as shown, a full list of the kit contents is at the address below, note the lights and prop shown on the prototype are not included in the kit.

We've produced a comprehensive series of videos that detail the entire construction of the model, there's no need to interpret cryptic plans or follow incoherent instructions leaflets, it's all there in the videos to watch.

Another HFM pilot boat.  This one supposedly from original moulds rather than speedline.  I think after I bought it has windows that are a mess I have to sort but I DO like a Nelson 40!  I think I will do this one with twin motors and a bit more scale-like not that my first was too bad so far...
