Dear all,

I'm adding a new link for the previous video and a another link for the last video of my Medea with new smaller boiler holding 1 bar and boat speed was quite steady even while changing direction. I wish you can see the difference of behavior between both videos, as well as I did.
Speed suits to the size of that model I believe.
Enjoy:

Very impressive performance Gilles, you have made an excellent job of the model and managing to squeeze a steam plant inas well is something quite special.

Hello Derek, and thank you for following my work.

:-) ...hum the steam whistle...yeah it sounds good on the video...but...
...there is simply no whistle on my Medea, I've added the sound on the video  %) I found it nice, I didn't want to cheat, believe me ! Sorry if I desappoint you.

Cheers

Giles......we know that the true scale sized steam engine whistle sounds like a high pitch Piccolo  {-)......

I find the 5" Gauge steam train engine builders use a little deception ... many have a totally out of scale, large diameter steam whistle hidden underneath  :o the engine ...this allows them to blast their engines whistle at lower realistic frequencies

So I have ordered a 13 diameter x 75 long whistle trunk and valve from Microcosm with the plan to trial the whistle hidden from actual view

That’s the whistle I’ve got. Looks the part, relatively small compared to some of the “organ pipe/ tin whistles “ around. It’s tuneable too. The dome nut on top is the locknut the tube can be raised or lowered to a pitch of your choice. I found it needed to be as close to the boiler as possible to avoid a wet spluttering start. I think mine was from Research Products.
I’m back home on the boat with the dog. Mary is improving daily but still one more stent to put in.
Rgds
Jerry.
