Amen. I love the detail and brasswork. It is first rate like Radio Joe's warship models and numerous others here.

If we didn't know it was a model, and there were no distractions in the background, it would appear to be the real thing - fantastic workmanship, most inspiring  :-))

just about finished the upper structure now,  Started to detail the lower structure , quite a bit of work fitting the hand rails and awning
rail used 0.3 brass wire for this. still a lot more detail to add before painting , also a geared motor to add for the 1022 radar
here are a few pics

Fabulous detailing on your superstructure - very realistic.
Curiosity has got the better of me David, what is that 'pewter' looking object on the base of the radar?

Ray.

Hello Ray it's suppose to a R A S  ( refueling at sea ) nozzle head , I bought this from fleetscale and it's supposed to be 1/96 scale but it looks to big
I have since removed it

Ah yes, I see that now, at first I thought it was the torso of a knight in armour  {-) .
Yeah, definitely over scale for the RAS connection.
Thanks for the update...

Ray.

David...our RAN vessels use US compatible RAS ship receival connections for obvious reasons....[like a US refueler embarked with a US/RAN Naval exercise]

You may find all Countries aligned with NATO have their Naval vessels similarily equipped?...or taking it further, any Countries [vessels]  currently aligned with the US Government Policy........Japan, The Phillipines, Vietnam?.....the list is mindless

The RAS hosed themselves are 4" bore, so the connection mouthpiece [lighweight non-corrosive stainless alloy] would be a nominal say ~~ 5" convoluted  OD max

Just watched a video of our two new RAN refuellers.........the RAS hoses appear far larger than the 4" bore I suggested earlier...

:embarrassed:  things sure have changed over 32 years since I stepped onboard such vessels

Couldn't let it go without an answer  %)

https://www.amdefencemarine.co.uk/what-we-do/defence/assault-courses/

MIL- Spec RAS hoses range from 64 to 153 mm diameter  :P

[When you back-check this, you will see that these Standards also apply to your RN]
With separate classifications to me

Hi Chris yes I didn’t have the hull when I started the superstructure so I have decided to build both structures before I start the hull
I have all the fittings and running gear also
It’s taking  longer than it should because I am having to
Work a lot from photos to build the latest version of her
The jebinco plans are the Bly for the the 1983 version

Coming along nicely David, following this build closely.
May I ask what you have used for the plastic coated wire removable handrails, such as those adjacent to the RAS station on the 1022 stump mast. Very realistic!

Hi Nige I used 0.5mm brass wire for the fixed railings and 0.3 brass wire for the black platinum coated ones
