Well what can I say,
It was a great show, and I must all eyes were on my stand.....no really thanks to Klunk I had just over 200 b+++dy things all over the stand, the boats, the cake, and when I left the floor  {-) {-)
It was great to catch up with all my friends (and one of Klunk socks, pretending to be smoke from my funnel) and I have made a few new friends (not eyes)
Many thanks to the King lear club who surpassed themselves this year with the cake supply (all carefully hidden behind my stand... %) )
Some really nice models this year, and the club stands I must say where the best I have seen for many years, with some models I have not seen before.

And of course our leaders shirt, as always put the steak and kidney pie into second place  :-))

And as for a certain person from Wicksteed park club...who shall remain nameless (see Nick I said I wouldn't tell) who was the first with the chattering teeth which spent the whole show on the giant tug I now have.....try explaining steam and teeth to people........

Great show  :-))

Hi Everyone ......... huge thanks to all those that contributed to the pool demonstrations. In particular the gang from the Surface Warship Association, without whom we couldn't run the sessions for the kids ...... the little lifeboats are magic and very popular. To prove how much your efforts were appreciated I saw one parent put a fiver in the RNLI collection box.

Also a big 'high five' to 'Stormy' ...... your presence added a nice slice of fun to the event.
I thought the flotilla of Ferries worked really well and there is already plans afoot to possibly double the number next year !!!
A very sincere thanks to all of you.Steve DeanPool Master.  :-))

Had a very nice 3 day exibiting .
Lots of great models on show with some that were there before and some new . A very good cross section of all ships .
Steve Dean did a great job of running the pool . I had a great time on sailing with others .
The traders that were there had good stalls with lots of stuff for sale .

A few points that the show needs to improve on
Taders numbers have been going down and now it is very noticable about 50% of what there use to be. I aceppt some of thoes traders have retired or gone out of buniess etc but high stall prices are a big cause of this lower number .
Pool depth very very low this year. This prevented several models from sailing and Mountfleet could not do a proper dissplay . This is the first year the pool has been so shallow .
The lower end of the hall ,were I was is getting worse and worse . The gaps are getting bigger and bigger this area use to be full of traders now  there was 1 or 2 traders down from over 20 sevral years ago.  about 45% of the lower floor space was the truckes and cafe .

Next year it gos to a 2 day show from a 3 day show . It will be intresting to see what this does to the show .

Going down to two days might help things a bit by reducing costs and that might entice some of the missing traders back. Quite apart from the cost issue, a three day stint puts a lot of strain on small businesses both in staffing their stand and dealing with a build up of orders while they are away from their base.

Friday tends to be 'pensioner's day' and I doubt if there would be much loss of attendance as those who usually go on Friday could probably manage Saturday or Sunday just as well but it will be interesting to see.

There is also the issue that Deans Marine and Mobile Marine Models are now staging their own events with guest traders and might prefer to develop that option as it is obviously much easier and convenient for them.

You need to sell a shed load of product to even break even at events like this. Not a problem if you are using the event just as a product showcase, but if you need to be making rather than losing money year on year, probably better to generate sales at your home base, virtually no extra overheads for this sort of activity. Also, once you have waved goodbye to the last modellers, you don't have a three hour strike down, followed by a three hour commute back home!
Always nice to browse through a trade stand, but there will only be a finite amount of money being spent, if this is being spread around, amongst slightly less traders, then that can only be a good thing for them.
