Tyres for lady Wooes

I am nearing the end of building the MMM Lady Wooes and want some tyre fenders. Can anyone tell me what tyres they would have used in the 1940,s and 50,s. I can work out what size i need if i know if they used car tyres, lorry tyres or bus tyres. Or was it anything they could lay their hands on. Any advice would be appreciated. Steve.

I would think it would be rope puddings they used in those days but I might be wrong...
