Hi,
I have recently dug out of the loft an 8 yr old unfinished project .
It is now working well , & maybe someone may be interested in my home made conversion.
It now contains a baffled 1 litre clunk tank ballast tank in place of the Pb/acid batteries.
This is filled by a 6V pump with a solenoid valve in parallel, breathing through a scale schnorkel,
with a tiny vent hole at top. pump powered by a NiMH battery.
Original Robbe motors are controlled by a 15A ESC , power from 11.1 LiPo battery.
Forward planes is controlled by an AUTO DEPTH control, in series with an AUTO LEVEL control.
Rear planes by AUTO LEVEL only.
Full control is still on TX sticks if reqd, & depth control can be switched off from TX for surface running.
The ballast tank is movable , for & aft by a heavy duty servo . This controls manually fore & aft trim.
It works well in my pond at home , maintaining pre set periscope depth.
The idea of the tiny breather periscope was, if dived too deep, when pump emptying tank , it could pump out more water than entered through
tiny hole . It works.
Next step is to vent ballast tank to WTC , thereby increasing internal pressure a little ( about 1 vol in 6 )
Hope anyone is still interested , been quite a project . Open water next !!!
