Well now I can do pictures ... well I hope you can see them.. say if not..

A few weeks back, bored and rather ANNOYED I had a resto wood boat lined up for collect on Hayling Island with a lady perfect for my son and i to restore and get him interested in it.. ( yes that very boat has surfaced on this site!!! I KID YOU NOT LOL )

Anyway a lady not too far from there in Portsmouth said.. Oh I have an old boat in the garden going to the tip if you want it..

Rush round we did.. and collected it.. here is the saga and it's looking like an Old boat but as I got into it.. it's looking like it was just a Static Furniture boat made in the 2000 era..

Converted to RC BADLY and now stripped and back to what it was.. I am new to this hobby and I am enjoying it.. even if my son is fed up with sanding.. but we all had to start some where LOL

and this is where we are so far... getting there... slowly.. certainly way better than it was... not bad for an old furniture boat !! LOL

Hi surfer71,That's a lovely looking boat. Lovely lines and shape.
I think you're doing a wonderful job so far. The finish looks very good to me. Well worth all that sanding.  :-)  , Ian.

that is a beautiful and very classy, classic boat and what a finish you have got................something I could only dream of....................your young lad has worked wonders with his sanding technique........the secret to a good finish, tell him and he's done a grand job.

hope you both enjoy the fruits of your labours........great stuff.

Martin it's the Green that is the better finish..

The red had some bits from in the air land on it.. so when I did the green I made a home made cardboard box oven and used a hot air gun to heat it to 26 in there..
it's dried in 20 mins and no bits to polish out and it's perfect finish

here you go.. this is my very quick home made oven for baking off the paint.. card board box and small hole, hole at the end so the air escapes and a hot air gun at low temp left for 20mins.. hence the baked green finish.. :-) better than the red.

I love the green! Very stylish, I can't wait to see her complete, and I hope your son likes it as well.

to be honest the boat come to a stand still.... but I will be back on it soon as it's almost done and really it's a shame to stop now..

We had come to the Wicksteed park event and I totally blame all the really nice folk who sold us and gave us boats  {-) {-)  to do... LOL.. so we have been side tracked some what with all the other 10 boats we came back with  :-))

Don't worry Bill it's all under control.. 26 is the best it got in there and also the boxe's are over hanging the back of the table.. so air flow was as much going in as coming out...

As the hot air gun starts up it takes a while to get some heat up and it pushes though nicely..

I am not Daft Bill so don't panic.. ;-)

Nice to see a model boat saved. The hull lines are not that far off from the type of models Bassett Lowke made.  The internals suggest it was more than just a display model.

that looks nice.. i did think should I change the top of the boat as it's all in bits but so far I am keeping it standard but it's looking like I might change my mind .... as ideas flow but who knows.. lets see..

As for this boat I can assure you it was a static display model from a furniture company... and it was converted by some one badly and I have had to UNDO it all to start again.. but now it's on the mend.. :-)

but with now 16 may be more projects on my hands thanks to the model boat weekend LOL!!! I will be a busy boy this winter!! LOL
