Colin
I do hear what you are saying but this applies to so much in life. A few are very evangelical about what matters to them (very clearly true here) but few others will stop shopping online to save the local High Street, few will stop flying to a holiday to save the planet, few will stop buying more clothes than they wear out to reduce waste, few will turn the heating down and wear an extra jumper to cut pollution etc etc etc.
I realise that subscriptions benefit the publisher and help sustain the magazine but at nearly £50 they are hardly cheap (by my standards) if there is a really interesting article in only half the issues.
Now the £15 for a year digital offer that they recently sent me is a whole different ball game.
If only the free plan articles were written so as to recognise that some readers don't get the free plan and only get information from the article. The Palex 6 article in October, for example, only gave any indication of size on the plan with nothing in the article. This is common & will be recognised by any digital subscription reader.
