Graupner Glasgow which battery?

Hi all


I have a Graupner Glasgow paddle steamer which used to run off a 6v 4ah Lead Acid battery which i have now removed to fit a foggy smoke unit which requires 24v. I now need to find a new battery to run the model but would like some help as to what would be the best option.


The specs of the model are


6v 3a Max Monoperm Super drive motor
10A Action Electronic speed controller
24v Foggy Smoke Unit


I was thinking of going for a 3s or 2s Lipo as I have a small allowance for weight a space. The drive motor is my main concern tho only being rated at 6v so i'm in favour of the 2s lipo battery and using a voltage booster to power the 24v smoke unit. Is Action Electronics gear okay to run of lipo?

Hi Klunk, Thanks for the link and have already got one on it's way. I would have liked to power the model from an 11.1v lipo but if I used full throttle then 6v motor would most likely be damaged. Will more than likely get a 7.4v 2 cell lipo but the voltage booster will just use more power to step the voltage up to 24v for the smoke unit.

i ran my Glasgow on 6v. its not the battery or motor thats the problem im afraid. its the amount of water that the paddles actually shift! if you have a programmable TX then set up the throttle endpoints so at full forward deflection, its going full speed that suits the model ie not thrashing the water going nowhere.
