Back after a long while away
« on: May 16, 2018, 05:24:54 pm »

I've just got back onto Mayhem after having been away for some years as my wife was very ill. Sadly she died last year, and after getting over that I'm slowly getting back into model boat things.

Goodness knows how many unfinished projects I've got scattered around the house, but I'll have to dig some out and see what's what.  ;)

I'll be at the next Mayhem event at Wicksteed with an ARTS motor cruiser, so it'll be good to see what progress has been made in the hobby while I've been away. I bought a 2.4 GHz radio set, my first one ever, to run the cruiser and that's pretty darn clever.

Let's hope the weather holds out.

That's good and bad I guess Dave.

At least I won't be swamped with new techie stuff, but all such hobbies really need a continuing flow of younger hobbyists to survive.

I did ask a mate of mine what sort of aerial pennant I needed for a 2.4 GHz tx and he gave me what can best be described as 'an old fashioned look'.  :-)

Apparently they're not needed..........

Sorry to hear about your loss, hopefully you’ll get to meet everyone at Wicksteed next week and see the changes in tech. Come and enjoy the weekend  :-))

While looking through my unfinished projects I came across my ETNZ yacht kit, of which I've only built the stand!  :-)

In a moment of madness I did think about getting on with it, but there's no chance I could do it 5 days! But I also looked out my Volvo 70 racing yacht and dusted it off. It needs some attention to the rigging and a new radio set, so that may be at Wicksteed. Fingers crossed.
