Disparaging criticism of MANUFACTURERS ON OPEN FORUM
« on: June 08, 2018, 04:20:58 pm »

Many moons ago, I was banned from this site for some months for slagging off the goods from a manufacturer....AND RIGHTLY SO!!!.

It was neither called for nor warranted, and I deserved my ban.

As a past manufacturer if a kit I should have known better as to hurt the very businesses that bring us such fine and beautiful
models. I
f it were not for these, we would revert back to the stone age of modelling where only the finest modellers could produce something worthy enough to call "museum" quality.

Could I on behalf of all modellers and mods on here, that before you share your exasperation on an open forum and whip everyone up into a frenzy and gnashing of teeth and smiting the ass with a whale bone just think for a minute, and ask...........DOES IT DO ANY GOOD to cause such argument between us and them, instead of getting in touch with the manufacturer directly, and if they don't answer the first time........get in touch again with registered hand mail.........….it does no ones Bp to keep raising the same old same old subjects again......…

And before arguments begin to make the mercury rise, tempers flair and blood boil...…………...remove the post.

thank you mods, for your stirling and caring work, often un noticed by many.

I totally agree that if a customer receives a less than perfect product the first recourse should be to the manufacturer/supplier. Anyone can make a mistake but it is what we do about it that matters most.

From there on I have a problem. I am not about to send a registered hand mail to anyone unless it is the basis for legal action - which is rarely worthwhile & should be totally unnecessary.

If I have received a faulty product and then tried to get it rectified - which I would normally start by speaking to the supplier - and they did not respond I would feel totally justified in coming to the forum & asking if my experience was unique and warning others about the supplier.

The forum is not the first recourse but neither should it be a no go area.

***In all instances, members are asked to take up supplier issues with the supplier first, and allow the supplier the chance to respond, please.***

If matters remain unresolved you are free to update the simple facts of the matter on Mayhem. Members are also reminded to avoid any flaming, as it achieves little and only adds to the problem.
